• Byla to éra hippies. Nenosila jsem make-up a měla jsem velmi dlouhé vlasy. Byla jsem feministka a cítila jsem to velmi silně. Soutěž mě nenáviděla, protože jsem byla velmi otevřená ohledně války ve Vietnamu a ženských práv. Mysleli si, že bych měla být dokonalá a mít předem připravené odpovědi. Byla jsem skutečný rebel.
  It was the hippie era. I didn't wear makeup and I had very long hair. I was a feminist and felt very strongly about that. The pageant hated me because I was very outspoken about the Vietnam War and about women's rights. They thought I should be perfect and have scripted answers. I was a real rebel.
